A loan helped to buy several sacks of organic fertilizer.

Lucila's story

Lucila is 23 years old and has lived with her partner, Leonidas, for four years. They have two children, Salvador and Silvano, whom they love and care for in a rented house in the Huanchan rural area. The arduous and demanding work of agriculture is her main source of income. For four years she has been growing crops on rented farmland and sharing planting costs with business partners. Her main crops are potatoes, corn and peas.

What she enjoys most about her work is seeing the crops grow since she works hard to keep them in good condition in a healthy environment. This can be seen by the successful sales her crops have in the central market of the city of Tarma. She also has a dairy cow, and makes cheese, and three oxen to plough the earth, so she can make a little extra money.

"I sell 15 cheeses a week, and make S/. 2 (PEN) of profit on each sale.", she says. She belongs to the "Unión Huanchan" communal bank and this is her fourth loan through MFP, where she feels good about the constant support she receives from her colleagues. Lucila plans to use the loan to buy several sacks of organic fertilizer to put on her potato crop.
