The “FLOR DE TULIPANES” communal association is made up of nine members and beginning its first cycle with Pro Mujer (Professional Woman) as part of the Cascada headquarters. Aida is the chapter president and the women are involved in different businesses, including, selling, producing, and services.
Graciela, president of the communal association began working with Pro Mujer five months ago. She has a busieness where she knits blankets and sweaters which she sells daily on the “C. Tiwanacu” (a commercial street in the city of El Alto).
She will use the money from this loan to buy vicuña yarn (vicuña is a camel-like animal from the Altiplanica region). She will buy this fiber at the San Luis or Calacoto fairs. This type of work allows her to generate an income with which to support her family. She is married and has three children.
When asked what she liked about Pro Mujer, she said that she enjoys the meetings.
