A loan helped provide a solid foundation for a woman-owned financial education center.

Joelle's story

I was born in Lubumbashi - a town in the The Democratic Republic of Congo. My family later moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, where I spent most of my formative years and met my husband. After our wedding, we decided to relocate to the United States and moved to New Hampshire. From a young age, I was captivated by the idea of becoming an entrepreneur and business owner in the educational industry. I was inspired by my mother, who was a merchant exporting and selling goods, as well as training kids how to read and write. My passion and purpose became to build a global business that would bring all immigrants to understand the American dream and system, and to be part of the culture of the world.

One night, under a starry sky, I shared my dreams with my husband. My husband smiled, telling me, “If you want to reach the stars, sometimes you have to leave the ground behind.” With his support, moving from one production job to another manufacturing job, I decided to pursue a degree in Business Administration, to learn everything I could about building a successful organization and becoming an entrepreneur. After settling into my new community in Manchester, New Hampshire, I enrolled in a business management program at Southern New Hampshire University, working long hours as a laser operator to support myself. Every day was a hustle between work, classes, and trying to network with other entrepreneurs, and there was little time to rest.

Despite the challenges, I never gave up. I started taking online financial education program training, using the skills I learned in my business classes. Soon, I expanded to offering volunteer teaching, and partnering with other financial institutions. Now, I have a Series 6 FINRA license and am now recruiting and training individuals and families on how to invest, save, grow, and protect their assets. But, success didn’t come without struggles. There were moments of doubt when when managing people felt impossible. There were times when I felt homesick and isolated, being so far from my family. But each challenge strengthened my resolve. I joined a community of business owners with World System Builder, attending networking events and collaborating with other business owners who understood my journey. Years later, my organization has grown beyond my wildest dreams. "Zion Eagle Financial Center & IT Services" has a loyal customer base, and I am now a proud businesswoman, known for my commitment to ethical trade and cultural preservation.
