A loan helped to buy bales of kava plants, a steel pounder and other essentials.

Marica's story

Marica and her husband earn a living from selling their farm produce, but it is hardly enough to meet their basic needs.

Kava is drunk widely in her community, so Marica plans to expand her business by selling the powdered root of the pepper plant on which it’s based.

She seeks a loan to buy bulk supplies of Kava and equipment. Confident that her venture will do well, Marica will use the extra income to meet their daily needs and to improve the quality of their lives.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
