A loan helped to purchase more food items such as milk, bulgur, beans etc to increase her business.

Fatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 33 years old Fatu from Masuba Branch. She is a married business woman with three children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. They are currently attending school. She started this business to take care of her family.

Fatu runs a retail business and sells food items to her customers around the communities. She has been in this business for the past 6 years. Fatu says that her challenge is insufficient business capital.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more food items such as milk, bulgur, beans etc to increase her business. Fatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to educate her children.

In the future, she would like to expand to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and KIVA for their support.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative sources of finance.
