Yoselin is a borrower who lives in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She is the coordinator for her group, Mujeres Luchadoras (Fighting Women) 4, and her story is representative of those in her group and other Dominican and Haitian borrowers at Esperanza International.
Yoselin runs a successful “miscellaneous” store, mostly selling clothing and shoes. With this loan, she plans to purchase clothing, shoes, perfume, accessories, and jewelry to sell for a small profit to her friends and neighbors.
Yoselin and her long-term partner have five children and live in a simple home in Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic. Urban areas of the Dominican Republic are very overcrowded and can be rough, with no potable running water, frequent power outages (if one has power to begin with), and inadequate health care.
This is Yoselin’s fourth loan with Esperanza International, and she hopes to continue taking out loans to grow her business and improve the home life of her family. With the profits, she hopes to buy a plot of land to build their home and to reinvest in her business.
Yoselin hopes to continue her dream as a businesswoman; she wants to have a very improved, big store. Thank you for lending to Yoselin and the Mujeres Luchadoras group!
