Caminando Con Jesus 3 Group's story

Kirsy is married with three children. She lives in a simple structure in Santiago, an area famous for tobacco and beef production, and the second biggest city in the Dominican Republic. This area, like nearly all impoverished areas of the Dominican Republic, suffers from unreliable running water (none of which is potable) and electricity.

Kirsy is in the business of selling all kinds of clothes and different home-decoration items like bedding sets, curtains and others. She went into business about a year ago with her husband's help. When she is not working, she enjoys watching television. She says that her most difficult challenge is to improve her house.

Kirsy is the coordinator of her group Caminando Con Jesus 3 (Walking with Jesus 3). She began with Esperanza International Dominican Republic because she wanted to improve her business. Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients, many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti.

Kirsy is excited to be taking out her second loan with Esperanza. She will use the profits to invest in her business and to save for future investments.

In this group: Kirsy, Alison, Juana, Leonicia, Orfelina
