A loan helped to buy more shoes for sale.

Hanifah's story

Hanifah is 38 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempa region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, who are all currently in school.

For the past five years, Hanifah has been working hard to manage her retail business, where she sells second-hand shoes.

To help expand her business, Hanifah has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shoes for sale, and will help Hanifah to generate greater profits. Her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to buy food for her family.

Hanifah hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house of her own.

She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
