A loan helped to purchase an additional five tons of dried sedge to keep in reserve for mat production.

Hằng's story

Mrs. Hằng, a 61-year-old widow, has spent a lifetime devoted to her craft and raising her three grown-up children on her own. She lives in a rural area in Nga Sơn district, a region well-known for its traditional craft of sedge planting and mat weaving. This cultural heritage has been central to her life since she was young, and her skills in producing sedge mats are highly respected in the community.

Although Mrs. Hằng once participated in every stage of the sedge planting and weaving process, she now focuses solely on production. During peak seasons, she hires additional help for transporting materials, but during regular periods, she works independently, handling each step herself. Her dedication to this craft reflects both her resilience and commitment to preserving this part of local culture.

To meet the demand for materials and keep her business going, Mrs. Hằng is seeking this sixth loan from Thanh Hoa MFI to purchase an additional five tons of dried sedge to keep in reserve for mat production. With this loan, she hopes to secure enough raw materials to maintain her production levels and meet customer demand.

This loan is special because:

It supports women from ethnic communities and single parent families.
