A loan helped to increase pig production in his family-owned microenterprise and provide affordable meat in his community.

Jesus Maria's story

Meet Jesus Maria! He is a young and very proactive individual who lives in the rural community of Zapallal, East Panama.

Jesus Maria runs a small farm where he plants plantains and cassava. Recently he started raising pigs near his home. This new livestock business has been quite successful, and the demand has increased over the last few years. Hence, he is planning to invest in and expand this promising pig-raising business.

With this loan, Jesus Maria is aiming to expand his pigsty and buy more pigs for breeding, increasing his current capacity and increasing household income for his young family.

Jesus Maria is known in his community for being responsible, charming, and very hardworking. He's taken smaller loans in the past and always paid on-time.

Thank you for contributing to Jesus Maria's Kiva loan and supporting financial inclusion in rural communities that have been historically excluded from basic financial services.

This loan is special because:

It helps unbanked communities in rural areas gain access to financial services.
