Mayeamu's story

Meet 34-year-old Mayeamu. She is married and has 5 children; they are presently in school and live at home. Mayeamu mainly sells oil, lappa, slippers, vira, salt, rice, charcoal and other goods. She learned how to sell from her sister and uses a car to transport supplies to her selling site, experiencing no issues with her operations. She sells Monday through Saturday.

She requested this loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. With this loan, she plans to purchase more oil, lappa, slippers, vira, salt, rice, charcoal and other goods to sell to her valued clients. She enjoys her work because it has changed her living conditions. Mayeamu wants to expand her business in the future. She expresses her gratitude to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
