Jose Ramon and his family live in Montecristi, which stands out because of its handicrafts made from toquilla straw, wicker, piquigua [a tropical rainforest plant] fiber, and wood. Fine hats made from toquilla straw are known to the world as "Panama hats," and they are recognized throughout the country and outside of it.
Jose Ramon has many years [of experience] in his work of making a great variety of furniture: chairs, hanging chairs, rocking chairs, baskets, and furniture sets. These are made from wicker, stems of woody vines, and metal structures, or by special orders from his customers. He and his children work every day and ship products throughout the country.
This loan is to buy wicker, iron, solder, paints, fabrics for the cushions, and sponges and pay for transportation, etc.
