A loan helped to purchase more soap, vegetable oil, red oil and other essential items to sell.

Lorpu's story

Meet 45-year-old Lorpu, from Liberia. She is married and has three children. They are schooling and live at home.

Lorpu runs a successful business selling soap, vegetable oil, rede oil and other essential items. She started her business 10 years ago using her own savings and has been operating her sales without any issues. She works Monday through Saturday and has a steady customer base.

To expand her business, Lorpu applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner, to purchase more soap, vegetable oil, red oil and other essential items to sell to her loyal clients. She loves her business because it helps provide for her children and ensures they can go to school.

Lorpu’s dream is to build a house in the future. She expresses her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their continued support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
