A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

'Ofa's story

'Ofa joined the SPBD loan program in 2015, when she needed someone to assist her in running her weaving business. SPBD helped her with her financial needs. Currently she still manages to run this business with no failures. Her husband works as a farmer planting cassava, taro and many other crops to feed the family.

'Ofa joined a group of women in their village to make tapa.

She can weave ta'ovala and mats, but she prefer ta'ovala because is quick to weave. The ta'ovala for the mats takes a week to weave and it's slower to market as well.

'Ofa is aiming to weave more ta'ovala and an order for mats from her customer, but she don't have enough pandanus. This is why she has applied for this loan: to help her buy more pandanus for her weaving.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
