A loan helped to buy more silver fish and tomatoes.

Betty's story

Betty is 37 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Njeru region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children who are all currently in school.

Betty has been working hard to manage her vegetable selling business where she sells tomatoes and silver fish.

To help expand her business, Betty has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more silver fish and tomatoes, and will help Betty to generate greater profits and expand her business.

Betty hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house and purchase land for her children. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It offers training programs in life skills for young women.
