A loan helped to purchase more fashionable clothes.

Benitah's story

Benitah is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, with two of them currently in school. For the past five years, Benitah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts and dresses.

To help expand her business, Benitah has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale, and will help Benitah to generate greater profits and manage to pay some of the house bills, food and basic needs for the family. Benitah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build rental houses for business.

She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
