A loan helped to buy more fruits and soft drinks to sell to her customers.

Doreen Milly's story

Doreen Milly is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, two of whom are currently in school. For the past five years, she has worked hard to manage her fruit-and-soft-drink-selling business.

To help expand her business, Doreen Milly has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. She will use the loan to buy more fruits and soft drinks, and this will help Doreen Milly generate greater profits, increase her income, and expand her business. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF), which primarily serves small group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
