Harisu's story

Harisu is a single, 23-year-old hardworking farmer, who lives with his mother. Harisu has the ambition to expand his land under cultivation and earn higher profits from farming.

As a member of Babban Gona, he will have access to high-quality inputs and enhanced farming services which will help to increase his yields. Furthermore, training programs will enable Harisu to practice farming more sustainably. For example, the agronomy education he will receive will focus on micro-dosing fertilizers to lessen the environmental effect and increase yields. Harisu expects to reap 40 bags/hectare of maize from this year's harvest, more than double the Nigerian average of 18 bags/hectare.

Due to the increase in security risks and the increasing costs of fertilizers, seeds, and herbicides, Harisu is requesting an increased loan to help account for his increased costs. This is crucial for Harisu as he plans on using the gain to invest back to his farm.
