A loan helped to buy more raw matooke (green plantains).

Recheal's story

Recheal is 49 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Kayunga region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, Recheal has been working hard to manage her food stall, which sells raw food and farming.

To help expand her business, Recheal has requested a loan of 3,000,000.00 UGX from BRAC Uganda. Recheal will use the loan to buy more raw matooke (green plantains). It will help Recheal generate greater profits and increase sales, hence business growth. Recheal hopes that she will be able to build rental properties in the future.

She is a member of BRAC’s Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Recheal, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
