A loan helped to access quality farm inputs and services.

Jamilu's story

Jamilu, 23 years old, lives with his family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Kaduna state. In his community, farming is the primary occupation and like many diligent smallholders, he dreams of expanding his farm business.

Due to lack of access to quality inputs, it's become difficult for farmers like Jamilu to achieve high yields to earn a higher income. Luckily, because of this loan and as a Babban Gona member, he'll be provided with higher-yielding seeds that are locally adapted and widely accepted in his local community. He'll also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield, up to two times the national average in Nigeria.

With lenders’ support to grow his farming business, Jamilu is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. He plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to build a better house for his family and purchase additional farmland for a bigger harvest next season.

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers and helps them increase yields.
