A loan helped a member to stock up on rice, beans, meat, oil and juice, which will strengthen her initial capital.

Byamungu Group's story

Ms. Salom, 46, is a client of the microfinance institute Hekima, and leads the village group “Byamungu”. She is married and a mother of 2 children, all of whom are in school. Her partner is a shopkeeper.

Salom sells food in a restaurant. She started this business 14 years ago with start-up funds received from her husband. Later, she was involved with the Hekima program to support her business, during which time, the business gradually evolved.

With this new loan, Salom will stock up on rice, beans, meat, oil and juice, which will strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of this activity is the lack of customers.

Salom would like her children to continue studying, and to feed her family. Finally, she would like to thank Hekima and its partners for the support provided to non-bankable business owners.

In this group: Salom, Pascal, Chishashu, Rutale, Alice
