A loan helped to buy detergents to boost the business.

Bitijjuma's story

Bitijjuma is 44 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Matugga region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children with 1 of them currently in school.

For the past 12 years, Bitijjuma has been working hard to manage her washing and dry cleaning business, which offers laundry services.

To help expand her business, Bitijjuma has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda.

The loan will be used to buy detergents to boost the business, which will help Bitijjuma to generate greater profits and will be able to increase her income.

Bitijjuma hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business.

She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Bitijjuma, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
