Christine's story

Christine is 28 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is Married and has 4 children who are all currently in school.

For the past 10 years, Christine has been working hard to manage her retail shop which sells general merchandise items like sugar, salt, cooking oil, raw food and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase additional sacks of sugar and salt, cooking oil and soft drinks for her business. This will help Christine to generate greater profit and enable her to take good care of her children and provide enough food to her family.

Christine hopes that in the future she will be able to own a large shop for her business which sells essential goods for the home. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). This program primarily serves group members like Christine, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have small businesses that have grown and qualify for micro-loans.
