A loan helped to buy more snacks for frying.

Resty's story

Resty is 41 years old and lives in the town of Gayaza in the Gayaza region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, both currently in school.

For the past 3 years, Resty has been working hard to manage her snack selling: fried snacks. To help expand her business, Resty has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. Resty will use the loan to buy more snacks for frying, which will help her generate greater profits and improve her family’s living standards. Resty hopes that in the future, she will be able to expand her business.

She is a member of BRAC’s Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Resty, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
