A loan helped to empower her by buying more pandanus for her weaving business.

Finau's story

Finau is single, working hard to provide for her parents and younger sibling, all living together. She dropped out of school at a very young age and chose to stay with her parents, making something to earn money for their needs and wants.

She runs a weaving business with the help of her mother. Finau and her mother join a group of women in their village to weave three days a week, using white and brown pandanus. They mostly weave taovala of good quality in different sizes and styles, then sell them at a good price.

Finau applied for this loan due to her need to purchase more pandanus for her weaving. This loan can empower her small weaving business financially, as well as enable purchase of more pandanus.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
