Proscovia's story

Proscovia is 49 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has five children with two of them currently in school. For the past 20 years, Proscovia has been working hard to manage her rental business, which owns rental houses.

To help expand her business, Proscovia has requested a loan of 6,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to renovate her rentals for more business. This will help Proscovia generate greater profits and invest more in her business and to buy food for her family.

Proscovia hopes that in the future she will be able to build more rentals for business. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Proscovia , who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
