A loan helped to purchase more raw food to sell at her grocery store.

Teddy's story

Teddy is 34 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school. For the past 20 years, Teddy has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw food.

To help expand her business, Teddy has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw foods and vegetables to sell. This will help Teddy to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living by providing enough food for her family.

Teddy hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals for business. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Teddy, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for micro loans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
