A loan helped to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale.

Getrude's story

Getrude is 34 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, who are both currently in school.

For the past 15 years, Getrude has been working hard to manage her grocery store, where she sells raw food.

To help expand her business, Getrude has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale. This will help Getrude to generate greater profits and manage to buy food for her family.

Getrude hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business more.

She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Getrude, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
