A loan helped to buy a mangrove liquid to design her tapa, and to buy mulberry for her tapa making.

Kakala's story

Her name is Kakala. She is a single lady who lives together with her parents in their own house. Kakala dropped out from school at a very young age for one reason: her parents can't afford the tuition fees of her.

Kakala learnt how to make tapa from her mother. She and her mother joined a group of people making tapa. They spend one day a week to make the whole tapa. From that, Kakala doesn't waster her time, she can make a soft tapa by beating the raw mulberry, then selling it to the people in their group and also the local people.

They make tapa and design it with their own design. Once the tapa is ready, they export it overseas for marketing and also for the local people.

This time, she need a fund to help her buy more mulberry from Ha'apai Island, and also to buy mangrove liquid to design the whole tapa.
