Gayle's story

I am the youngest of 18 children and a native of San Francisco, California. Growing up in the Fillmore (Western Addition) area, being amongst black entrepreneurs gave me that I could become an entrepreneur one day. Even though my parents worked, we still had financial hardship. My dad use to drive us to other counties to buy fruit a wholesale price and we use to sell fruit on the corners to earn money. Even though I was so young, I was excited to experience a way to earn money for yourself. Especially being with your family. My siblings and I sell candy bars or do various jobs to earn money for ourselves.

I remember asking some of the store owners on Fillmore street, questions about how did they get their business, what steps they they do and how can I ran errands for them to earn money.

I remember the one of the answers was, work hard and keep going. With some of the money I earned, (which wasn't a lot back then). I will buy some ice cream. Fillmore had several different Penny Candy stores. Since then, I always wanted to have a business where ice cream was a involved and I can have a place where youth can learn entrepreneurship skills.

The Geez Freeze is a mobile business that sells creative flavored daiquiris, signature waffle cones and snow cones.
I am a business that serves my community by having a inspiring young pastry chef come work and sell her treats at festivals, host youth events and support other Community organizations with events and I do other events to serve seniors and the homeless.
