A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Kasanita's story

Greetins, this is Kasanita and she is 31 years of age. She is married with five kids. Three kids attend school and two stay with her. They live at her older sister's house.

Kasanita and her sister work together in running this weaving business. Before they made tapa (bark cloth), and right now they do weaving. Tapa-making and weaving is the only source of income for this family. Kasanita put her tapa-making business on hold due to a slow market.

She does weaving so she can advertise her weaving through the internet so people can pay her per day to do their weaving. From that, she earns good income from weaving in one day. She can weave one taovala in a day in any size and style according to what the customer needs. This time, Kasanita turns to SPBD's loan program to assist her financially to buy more pandanus for her weaving business.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
