A loan helped to buy an automatic irrigation system that will improve the distribution of water to his crops.

Luis's story

Luis is an indigenous farmer from Jambalo, Cauca, with 19 years of experience in agriculture. He has a one-hectare plot of land assigned to him by the indigenous council, where he has planted over 5,000 coffee trees known for their high productivity. Luis waters his crops using an old hose and recycled buckets; this method, while meticulous, does not ensure uniform water distribution, which can affect the growth of some plants and reduce overall yield.

Luis lives with his father in a house he built himself several years ago. His father is also a farmer and plays a crucial role in managing the crops, providing support in daily tasks.

A loan of $2,498,385 COP allows Luis to purchase an automatic irrigation system. This investment will help reduce the time and effort he spends on manual watering, optimize water usage, and improve the yield of his crops.
