Laxmi And Group's story

Laxmi is a 39-year-old married woman from Araria District, Bihar, who runs a bamboo business. She makes and sells bamboo products such as baskets, chairs, and more in her local community. With a family of four and a monthly income of INR 25,000, Laxmi is concerned about securing a better future for her school-going children. To increase her income, she has decided to expand her business. The additional earnings will help her save for her children's future and fund their education.

Laxmi leads a group of sixteen women who have joined together to apply for a group loan of INR 630,000 from Grameen Shakti, a lending partner of Milaap, to invest in their respective businesses. Laxmi and her group are grateful to their lenders for their support. Note: Three more borrowers could not go for the group photo for personal reasons.
