A loan helped to purchase more timber to increase her business.

Tity's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 37-year-old Tity from Waterloo Branch. She is a married businesswoman with 2 children between the ages of 10 and 12 years old, both of whom are currently attending school. She started this business to take care of her family.

Tity runs a retail business and sells timber to her customers around the communities. She has been in this business for the past 6 years. Tity says that her challenge is the increase in cost of transportation in the country.

Tity has requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more timbers to increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help to pay her children school fees.

In the future, Tity would like to expand to a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative sources of finance.
