A loan helped to establish 0.35 hectares of coffee.

Maria Concepcion's story

Maria Concepcion is a 47-year-old producer of coffee. She lives in remote community of the northern zone of Nicaragua. She has a farm of 1.76 hectares of land, of which 1.40 hectares are occupied by coffee trees. She lives there with her little son, who is a minor. She has three years of experience in this work. The coffee sector is the principal crop that generates the necessary income for her family.

This year she is applying for a loan to buy the vegetative material and pay for labor, among other things, to be able to establish 0.35 hectares of coffee. This loan will have a return in the second year. This is the first loan that she has arranged with PACSA.

This loan is special because:

It helps farmers swap unproductive coffee plants with new ones.
