A loan helped enable the establishment of 100 mini-solar farms that will benefit over 125,000 households.

Solenium's story

In Colombia, like many other regions, reliance on fossil fuels poses a significant threat to both the environment and public health. Air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, habitat destruction, and adverse climate impacts such as extreme weather events and grid outages are among the consequences.

With a mission to harness the sun as a clean, renewable power source, Solenium is a Colombian social enterprise that specializes in installing mini-solar farms on lands that are no longer viable for traditional farming due to climate change. Recognizing the pivotal role of solar energy in the transition to cleaner energy sources, Solenium is dedicated to promoting the adoption of solar technologies within the country.

A $100,000 loan will support the establishment of 100 mini-farms, providing smallholder farmers with an alternative source of steady income. Already generating approximately 2,300 MWh of clean energy annually, this initiative will impact over 125,000 households and help avoid over 7,790 tons of CO2 emissions. Each project will create over 15 job opportunities with a focus on empowering women. By supporting Solenium, you contribute to economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and grid stability in these rural communities. Join us in making a significant impact one solar farm at a time.
