A loan helped to buy seedlings to diversify her crops and increase sales.

Zainabu's story

Zainabu is a refugee mother to six, all in school. They live in Moyo. To her, no matter what life throws at you, never give up, but be hopeful. She grows millet, groundnuts, beans and sorghum. She provides basic needs for the family, though she's not able to give them all they need.

She'd like to buy a variety of other crops, instead of what she's always planted. She'd like to grow tomatoes, onions, eggplants and green vegetables. These take a short time to mature, and demand is very high. Zainabu's business has grown, and she feels she'll be able to do much more than she's doing today because she now understands it better.

With this in place, she'll boost her sales and be able to pay school fees. Her dream is to open a shop to sell foodstuff. Zainabu is very sure of achieving this and is very grateful for all the support VisionFund and Kiva have given her.
