A loan helped to buy more pandanus tree leaves for weaving.

Tukuhausia's story

A previous borrower, Tukuhausia is now married with one child. She lives with her family at her parents' house, and she still helps her mother with her weaving.

Weaving is the main source of income for her little family, and she enjoys the business. Together, her mother and she weave ta’ovala, mats and fihu, then decorate and sell them. This business alone not only repays her loan without fail, but even puts food on the table.

Tukuhausia and her husband plan to run the business and save some income to build a home of their own, where they could live their little family life. With this loan she finds support to buy more pandanus tree leaves for her business.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
