A loan helped to support her weaving, by buying the amount of pandanu leaves needed.

'Ofa's story

This mother makes a living from weaving. Her name is 'Ofa. She is married to a carpenter and they have five children.

'Ofa and five other women in her neighbourhood form a weaving group where they gather almost every day for weaving.

They weave taovala (an article of Tongan dress), mats and many more items to decorate and they sell to some local and overseas customers.

Her business income supports her husband with their financial needs. With this loan, 'Ofa is looking forward to buy the amount of pandanu leaves she needs.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
