Janesharon's story

Janesharon is 34 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children who are all currently in school.

For the past 17 years Janesharon has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes like shirts, dresses etc.To help expand her business, Janesharon has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes to sell and will help Janesharon to generate greater profits and improve on her standard of living by providing enough food for her family.

Janesharon hopes that in the future she will be able to own a plot of land and build a house. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Janesharon who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
