A loan helped to purchase raw materials for production of more 'gari' to meet her customers' demands.

Evelyn A.'s story

Evelyn A. is a 30-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and kids in West Gonja district in Ghana. With her previous Kiva loan, she expanded her business in the production and sale of 'gari', a delicacy made from cassava. She used the profit she earned to reinvest in her business. Evelyn A. is now requesting another loan to purchase raw materials for production of more 'gari' to meet her customers' demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's daily needs.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a Camfed Transition Guide, supporting other young women who are just entering the Camfed Association by delivering an orientation course with weekly sessions on topics including health, financial literacy, and career guidance.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
