A loan helped to buy more imported clothes and bags of charcoal to sell.

Amelia's story

Amelia is 28 years old. She is living together with her partner along with 1 child; aged 7 years. Amelia attended school up to twelfth grade.

She is a strong businesswoman who sells imported clothes and bags of charcoal. For three years, she has been operating her sales. She started the business with her own savings. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday.

To excel in business, Amelia applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. This financing will be used to buy more imported clothes and bags of charcoal to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because it supports her family. She wants to build a house in the future. Amelia is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
