A loan helped to purchase more slippers, bags, and shoes to sell.

Esther's story

This is 30-year-old Esther from Liberia. She is living together with her partner along with one child; aged twelve years. Esther attended school up to ninth grade. She is a hardworking businesswoman who sells slippers, bags, and shoes.

Esther has been operating her sales for nine years. She learned how to sell from her sister and got her start up capital from her husband. She sells Monday through Saturday and uses a car to transport her supplies.

Esther applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. The loan will be used to purchase more slippers, bags, and shoes to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because it helps to support her family. Her dream for the future is to increase her business. Esther wishes to say thanks to all lenders!

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
