A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Telesia's story

Telesia joined the loan program to find financial support for her business making tapas [patterned cloths made from mulberry tree bark]. She is 28 years old and married with four children.

She and her mother make tapas, together with 20 other women in the village. Every Friday, they gather in the village's hall to make the tapas. She also learned the designing skills from her mother, and some women hire them to design their tapas. It is another source of income for them.

She is applying for this loan to buy mulberry to make more tapas. Lack of mulberry is the usual problem they face, due to its high price at the market. But having these loans helps them afford the amount of mulberry they need to buy.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
