A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Mele's story

Once every week, this mother, Mele, joins a group of women and together they perform the making of tapas. She is a mother of seven, and she raised and provided for them for many years through her business.

Now that her children have grown up and have their own families, she still manages to run her business, and help them with their children. Some of her tapas are exported to her children overseas for selling, and some are stored for family and church functions.

She is enjoying joining the loan program to support her business and keep her active. With this loan, she is hoping to buy mulberry to make more tapas.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
