A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making, and cover the educational fees of her children.

Mele's story

Mele is a separated mother to her six children. She makes a living from making tapas and selling to local and overseas customers. Having to raise and provide for her children on her own is a challenge, but a blessing to Mele. They all attend school, and she is paying for their school fees through making tapas. They help their mother with preparing her soft tapas. With this loan, she is able to buy mulberry and also cover their educational fees.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
