A loan helped to purchase a new bus.

Josephine's story

Josephine is a 51-year-old single parent of four children. She comes from a village called Baron on the West coast of Wewak in East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea.

Josephine is one of the passionate small-scale farmers in her region. She loves her family and has embraced farming as a means to satisfy her family’s basic needs. Her main focus is on maize and vegetable farming, poultry keeping and transportation.

She recently ventured into providing transportation because of the distance in traveling into towns to market their produce. She is now planning to purchase a brand new PMV bus, as the need is in demand.

Josephine has appealed for a loan from Kiva to top up her savings and start the new venture.

This loan is special because:

It promotes financial independence for marginalized women entrepreneurs.
