A loan helped to purchase a new sound system for fundraising performances.

Mark's story

With 32 years of service as a third generation Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Steelworker, I've dedicated my life to the steel industry. However, my passion for art and music has always remained a significant part of who I am. In 2011, my family and I established an under 21 venue in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, where I currently call home. Recognizing the hardships faced by many young individuals, we transformed our venue into a 501(c)3 nonprofit named the Radioactive Events Center in 2015. Our mission is to provide a platform for artists and musicians to learn, grow, and showcase their talents. Despite the challenges brought by the Covid shutdowns in 2020, we adapted by taking our fundraising efforts to the streets. It's been an incredible privilege to work with talented young individuals and offer them a safe environment to express themselves in front of their families, friends, and peers.

I am excited to retire from the steel industry and pursue my passion for music and the arts. I am grateful for those who guided me when I was lost. Now, it's my turn to pay it forward.
