A loan helped to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale.

Frida's story

Frida is 49 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, 2 of whom are currently in school. For the past 10 years, Frida has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw food.

To help expand her business, Frida has requested a loan of UGX 3,500,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase for more raw food and vegetables for resale, and will help Frida to generate greater profits which will help her buy food for her family.

Frida hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business to a bigger food stall. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Frida, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
