A loan helped to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale.

Joweria's story

Joweria is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are all currently in school. For the past 10 years, Joweria has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts, dresses.

To help expand her business, Joweria has requested a loan of UGX 4,000,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale and will help Joweria to generate greater profits. Joweria hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her cloth business into a bigger boutique. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Joweria, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
